Drawing Natural and Urban Landscapes

The first official drawing project we had was to draw natural landscapes, or a mixture of both natural and urban (Oxford) landscapes.

The first exercise was to produce a still life drawing of objects you would find in the woodland, e.g branches, dried leaves e.t.c. We did this using charcoals, chalks, and white emulsion paint to add texture.

In preparation for our final piece, we went on two field trips, one to Sutton Park just down the road, and another to Oxford, where we had to produce at least 6 drawings for each.

Here is my final piece where I have included one of the churches I saw in Oxford hidden behind a  dense gathering of trees from Sutton Park. It is again A0 and done in charcoal. I am pleased with how this has turned out since the trees slowly getting darker as you move further in give it an eerie atmosphere.
