Printmaking- Issues in the UK

In Printmaking we had to pick an issue in the UK which we felt needed to change, e.g sexism, racism, abortion e.t.c. The issue I chose was bulling since it is a topic which I feel most strongly about. For this project we used 4 different techniques; Drypoint etch; Collagraph; Lino- Cut and Monoprint.

Here are my four dry point etches.

It's called 'Time to talk' and depicts a girl  who wants to tell someone about being bullied, hence behind her you can see either her mum, her big sister, a teacher e.t.c.

The bruise on her face shows that she's been bullied, and the mental wires over her mouth have stopped her from talking before, but that is about to change. It takes courage to cut the wires.

I also experimented with different colours.

Here are my four best collagraphs of a fist with a quote from Bully by my favourite Rock Band Shinedown 'We don't have to take this!'

These four lino cuts show a person who is weighed down by different demons, though the harder they try to pull her down the bigger her wings become.

This is my Line Additive monoprint which was inspired by an American campaign for anti'bullying. I wanted to make it look clumsy and childish and unimportant, because a bully never thinks of the consequences of their actions.

Here is my Subtractive monoprint which again is based on this idea of salvation and rising up against bullying.
